Product Sense interview practice

Practice Product Sense Interviews

Work through an unseen product prompt, commit to a user and problem, then respond to follow-up pressure before seeing feedback. The Product Sense rubric rewards a coherent decision path rather than feature quantity.

Before you start

A compact reasoning spine

  1. 1Choose the user and explain why that segment matters now.
  2. 2Identify the problem worth solving before proposing features.
  3. 3Compare credible directions and make one trade-off explicit.
  4. 4Define a success outcome that can change the next decision.

This is starting structure, not a model answer. The scenario and follow-ups stay unseen until you begin.

What feedback actually checks

Mode-specific practice rubric

Problem framing

Clarifies objective, scope, constraints, and what success means before jumping to features.

User selection

Chooses a user segment deliberately and explains why that segment matters now.

Problem evidence

Uses behavior, research, or product evidence to distinguish a real problem from an assumption.

Prioritization & trade-offs

Compares alternatives and explains what will not be built or prioritized yet.

Success metrics

Defines one primary outcome plus leading indicators or guardrails where useful.

Communication

Keeps the answer structured, concise, and easy to follow under pressure.

Each dimension receives a visible 0–3 practice signal after the round. It is not a hiring prediction or a company interview scorecard.

Common failure patterns

What to notice in your next round

  • Jumping from the prompt directly to features.
  • Targeting everyone or using a generic persona with no prioritization logic.
  • Listing many ideas without choosing what should win or lose.
  • Ending with engagement as a vague success metric instead of a decision-relevant outcome.
